Scott Yoo is the Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra and the Music Director of Festival Mozaic. He is also the host and executive producer of the PBS series, Now Hear This, the first classical music series on U.S. primetime television in 50 years. As an advocate for the music of our time, Yoo has premiered 71 works by 38 composers to date. He has recorded for Sony Classical, Naxos and New World Records.

Reviewing the album, Paco Yáñez offered detailed appraisals of all five works. He described Paredes's Recordare as holding multiple layers of historical and political memory in productive tension, drawing on Mozart's Requiem, the Dissonance Quartet and Paredes's own opera El Palacio Imaginado, calling it "a time built of times." Ana Lara's Cuando caiga el silencio was praised for its extraordinary textural variety and resonances with Xenakis. Andrea Chamizo's Sigue siendo arena, her first orchestral work, was singled out for the remarkable maturity of its handling of time as subjective experience. Marcela Rodríguez's Tríptico was celebrated for its vibrant rhythmic energy and its joyful final movement, evoking a Día de los Muertos celebration. Georgina Derbez's De las tinieblas la luz was described as driven by indomitable flows of energy enacting a journey from darkness into light. Throughout, the Orquesta Filarmónica de la Ciudad de México's performances were praised as outstanding, with Yáñez concluding that the disc as a whole is a testament to the remarkable vitality of contemporary Mexican orchestral composition.
