A self indulgent DIY. Omni-Gatherum is an instrumental album written, performed, and recorded by Sylvan Tirelle.

Omni-Gatherum presents Sylvan Tirelle in full hermit‑inventor mode: writing, playing and recording everything alone, then binding the results into an instrumental album that proudly wears the tag “self indulgent DIY.” In Tirelle’s hands, that phrase doesn’t signal sloppiness or unfocused noodling so much as permission - the freedom to follow a melodic fragment further than a committee would allow, to let a rhythm loop long enough to change temperature, to chase down a sound simply because it feels right in the moment. The record plays like a one‑person laboratory where the walls are lined with half‑finished circuits, strange tunings and handmade textures, all humming at slightly different voltages.

The “omni‑gatherum” of the title is a clue to the album’s internal logic. Rather than drilling one idea into the ground, Tirelle collects a wide spread of impulses - knotted riffs, hazy chords, drifting ambient passages, jagged rhythmic episodes - and sets them side by side until surprising connections emerge. A track might open on a tight, riff‑driven figure before dissolving into a gauzy, reverb‑soaked coda; another might build from a single, stubborn pattern into a small pile‑up of counter‑lines and percussive details. Because every part is played by the same pair of hands, there’s a subtle continuity even as moods change: a certain way chords fall, a preferred contour in a lead line, a rhythmic lurch that keeps turning up like a personal fingerprint.
