150 copies only. French saxophonist Sakina Abdou and Philadelphia guitarist Bill Nace present Rinse Cycle, a striking first encounter between two of improvised music's most uncompromising voices. Released October 15, 2025 on Open Mouth Records, this LP captures the duo's incendiary exchange recorded during a U.S. tour that included performances at Philadelphia's legendary Solar Myth. Abdou, whose searing solo work Goodbye Ground (Relative Pitch, 2022) established her as a formidable presence in the international improvisation scene, brings her personally declarative approach and wide vibrato ululations to this collaboration. Based in Lille and emerging from years of collective work, Abdou's focused solo practice has garnered significant attention stateside, offering what writer Clifford Allen describes as "a clear and focused explication of her language." Nace, whose two decades of work spans collaborations with Evan Parker, Masayo Koketsu, Samara Lubelski, Paul Flaherty, and Steve Baczkowski - provides a shifting, complex sonic landscape through guitar, taishogoto, egg shaker, and contact mic. His approach recalls Sunny Murray's "continuous cracking of glass," simultaneously ratcheting tension and creating delicate surfaces for exploration.

Across four tracks—"Vented," "All in One (in two parts)," "Mega Capacity," and "Perfect Steam"—the duo constructs what Allen calls "a rich and explosive shared discourse." High-pitched wails meet distortion-gauze feedback. Split-toned tenor brays coagulate with relentless peals. Flywheel crescendos evoke Ayler and Brötzmann while excavating pure-sound territories uniquely their own.

Limited to 150 copies with screenprinted covers on Stoughton tip-on sleeves, Rinse Cycle stands as a striking document of two improvisers pushing one another's boundaries into uncharted sonic territory.
