Advance Recordings, the series associated with the music faculty at State University of New York at Buffalo, was one of the primary documentation vehicles for the American academic avant-garde of the 1960s and 70s. This LP presents new music for guitar by two figures at opposite ends of the transatlantic experimental spectrum: Hans Werner Henze, the German composer whose engagement with new music coexisted with a lifelong commitment to lyricism and political content; and Larry Austin, the American experimentalist and co-founder of the journal Source: Music of the Avant Garde. Performed by Robert Floyd.
