Original 1978 Japanese LP on Columbia with music and dialogue from the anime TV series "Space Battleship Yamato". Never re-issued on either LP or CD. Gatefold sleeve with glued-in insert.

The original soundtrack album from the 1974 series, Hiroshi Miyagawa's themes as heard on television: the opening march sung by Isao Sasaki, the closing ballad, the incidental cues for the voyage to Iscandar. Columbia's CS-series pressing has the drama and the songs, the raw material from which the Symphonic Suite was later built.
For the Yamato collector this is the beginning; for the jazz listener it is Miyagawa, one of Japan's best arrangers, given a spaceship to play with. Japanese pressing with obi.
