Sketch Of My Life
The first-ever reissue on Studio Mule of the debut album by Japanese jazz legend and bassist Yoshio Ikeda. Having performed with such illustrious figures as Sadao Watanabe, Masabumi Kikuchi, and Terumasa Hino, Ikeda’s first album as a leader features pianist and vocalist Ichiko Hashimoto—also known for her involvement with YMO—Berlin-based jazz pianist Aki Takase, and leading Japanese drummer Motohiko Hino. Avant-garde yet imbued with a distinctly Japanese sense of melancholy, this is a work tha…
Vol.1
Two masked creatures from Saguenay, Quebec, who communicate only in guttural alien grunts, have managed to become the most talked-about band on the planet - and the funniest part is that nobody can explain exactly why. Maybe because Angine De Poitrine - Khn de Poitrine on a custom-built double-neck microtonal guitar/bass with loop pedals, Klek de Poitrine on drums and percussion - are simply too good to ignore. Behind the papier-mâché masks, the polka-dot costumes and the pyramid hand signs lies…
Manifestations In The Shadow Of An Uncertain Land
Manifestations in the Shadow of an Uncertain Land unfolds through aleatoric composition and intuitive process, shaped by deeply entangled political and aesthetic lineages. Rooted in lived experiences of bodies and minds navigating the localized and global weight of imperialism, the work also draws from the temporal logic of film and literature, where memory, dread, and anticipation coexist. Working with voice and modular electronics, Lowe treats sound as a sculptural and cinematic force, informe…
Siticidelhous
Companion volume to Parkustomnie, drawn from the same 2016 sessions at the Conservatorio Jesús Guridi in Vitoria-Gasteiz. Guionnet (church organ) and García (electronics) again use volume as a compositional variable: the music is engineered so that at low playback levels the performance feels restrained and exquisitely subtle, while at high volume entirely new sonic strata emerge in overwhelming detail. Electroacoustic improvisation that turns the amplifier into part of the score.
Cirkelmusik
*50 copies limited edition* This CD is inscribed with physical defects (scratches with a needle) covering track 8 which consist of a 22049 Hz inaudible sinewave. This will produce audible artefacts, different in nature depending on the CD player used for playback. Tracks 1-6 are recordings of track 8 applying different forms of physical scratches. The results can be described as simple rhytmic studies, some surprisingly jazzy in nature. Timbre-wise only the pure artefacts are heard, contary to e…
2
Second half of a two-part album by Mens and Kouw, recorded live in studio in December 2014 and following directly from the first volume. The two long-form pieces extend the duo's pursuit of precisely tuned analogue synthesis: deep, warm drone fields that gradually disclose, to patient listening, a rich substructure of resonances, artefacts and slowly shifting collages of texture. Material that resists time as event-based articulation and proposes it instead as immersive sonic sculpture.
Vauville
Debut album by the young Belgian composer Ryan Van Haesendonck, mastered by Stephan Mathieu. The pieces grew from a week spent on the quiet beaches of Normandy, then continued in Brussels after his move from Antwerp. The vocabulary combines field recordings of church bells, improvised organ sessions, urban recordings of the new city and saxophone passages by Silke Bull, layered into eight short pieces. Cinema-informed ambient on the theme of solitude and self-preservation.
Ghost and More Ghosts
Kit darlings Love Is Yes (Dax Niesten and Sander van der Toorn) return with a particle scattering follow-up to their celebrated, self-titled debut. While the Dutch duo's serenely motorik guitar, levitational synths and airy vocals are still present, 'Ghost and More Ghosts' sees the pair take a sideways step into the nether realm - tugging gamelan metallophones, organs and vocoders with them through the fermented portal as they disintegrate completely. A melancholy magic trick occurs when these a…
Novos Baianos F.C.
“Novos Baianos shaped an entire generation of Brazilian music — their sound is pure freedom.” — Caetano VelosoOriginally released in 1973, Novos Baianos F.C. captures the band’s communal lifestyle and fearless experimentation. After the success of Acabou Chorare, the group expanded their sound into a vibrant mix of samba, choro, folk, psychedelia, and electric street-soul.With the unmistakable chemistry of Baby Consuelo, Pepeu Gomes, Moraes Moreira, Paulinho Boca de Cantor, and Dadi, the album r…
Za Górami
Vocalist and violinist Alice Zawadzki makes her ECM leader debut with Za Górami ("beyond the mountains"), a luminous and deeply personal song-cycle that gathers melodies from across the folk traditions of Central and Eastern Europe, the Sephardic and Yiddish diaspora, Ladino balladry and her own original writing. Sung in a remarkable range of languages, the album feels less like a recital than a series of half-remembered lullabies and incantations, carried on Zawadzki's pure, weightless voice an…
Uneasy
Vijay Iyer presents a powerful new trio, in which he is joined by two key figures in creative music, Tyshawn Sorey and Linda May Han Oh.  “We have an energy together that is very distinct. It has a different kind of propulsion, a different impulse and a different spectrum of colours”. Repertoire on UnEasy, recorded at Oktaven Audio Studio in Mount Vernon, New York in December 2019, includes Iyer originals written over a span of 20 years, plus Geri Allen’s “Drummer’s Song” and a radical recasting…
The Habit
On The Habit, Go Hirano gathers decades of home and studio recordings into a single, slow‑glowing arc: spare piano, pianica and small percussion drifting through room tone and outdoor air, turning everyday imperfections into a warmly enchanted, lifelong diary.
Kartoffel-Opera
Edition of 150. This ultra-limited 7" presents the first audio documentation of Henning Christiansen's Potato Opera, a conceptual masterwork that stands among the most radical gestures in Fluxus history. Originally performed in 1969 at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, this piece embodies the radical questioning of musical convention that defined the post-1968 avant-garde. The inaugural performance in 1969 brought together Henning Christiansen with artist Lene Adler Petersen and painter Ursula Reute…

Devet
*100 copies limited edition* Flung is proud to present Devet by Manja Ristić: A sonic tracing of cosmologies, thresholds, and elemental memory, centred around the symbolism of the number nine as a marker of completion, passage, and spiritual architecture. Crafted from environmental sound, improvisational sequences, and site-specific interventions, the collection unfolds as a sonic storytelling of nature’s bold framing of our existence. The integration of ancestral knowledge systems, ecological w…
Alina
*2024 stock. Deluxe packaging* There have been other recordings of "Für Alina" and "Spiegel im Spiegel" but none like those on this disc, realized with the participation of the composer. Here Pärt, aided by exceptional interpreters, revisits those seminally important compositions which marked the birth of a new, "prismatic" period in his work, establishing a link between compositions embodying the fundamental traits of the "tintinnabuli style." Three interpretations of the duet ‘Spiegel im Spieg…
My Prophet
On My Prophet, Oded Tzur together with his quartet of pianist Nitai Hershkovits, bassist Petros Klampanis and the new group member Cyrano Almeida on drums, continues on the idiosyncratic musical path he has carved out for himself – a flowing jazz idiom that seamlessly combines multiple forms of expression –,  while delving deeper into the meditative and highly concentrated realm of improvisation. In the process, the saxophonist presents some of his fiercest playing yet. The quartet’s synergy is…
La Onda De The Survival
The Mexican band The Survival created a blend of blues and acid rock influenced by the U.S. West Coast movement and British blues, captured on this 1971 album- the only one they recorded. They are often described as a combination of Country Joe and the Fish, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Moby Grape and Ten Years After. One of the rarest records ever released in Mexico, it stands as a significant testament to the 'onda chicana', a historical movement when Mexican youth took up instruments to exp…
