The fifth chapter of John Zorn's series of piano trio compositions based on classical forms: eight Fantasias, lyrical, harmonically complex and unpredictable, played by Brian Marsella, Jorge Roeder and Ches Smith. Tzadik.
Fantasias is the fifth installment in John Zorn's series of compositions for piano trio based on classical forms. Eight Fantasias, numbered one to eight, lyrical and harmonically complex, unpredictable and full of a lush Romantic sweep, with the close, telepathic interplay that this group has developed over several albums.
The trio is the one Zorn has relied on for this cycle: Brian Marsella on piano, Jorge Roeder on bass and Ches Smith on drums.
Released by Tzadik (CDTZA 9333).
