The first volume of live recordings from the Milano Musica festival: Quatuor Danel at the Sala Puccini of the Milan Conservatory on 9 October 2005. The programme puts two quartets by Iannis Xenakis, the violent Tetras (1983) and the short, late Ergma (1994), on either side of Helmut Lachenmann's Gran Torso, where the strings are scraped, pressed and tapped far more often than bowed.
György Kurtág's brief Aus der Ferne III and music from Leoš Janáček's First Quartet, the Kreutzer Sonata, complete the set. Issued by Stradivarius in 2010, in collaboration with RAI Radio 3.
