* Much-needed repress! Edition of 750 copies. A truly legendary album, “Mr. Wollogallu”, the collaboration album between Carlos Maria Trindade and Nuno Canavarro, was originally released in Portugal on União Lisboa, Produções Audiovisuais Lda. in 1991. * Like many of the more interesting avant-garde and experimental artists and projects which emerged within Europe during the 1980s, Nuno Canavarro grew from one of the most unexpected places - the world of pop music and rock - initially within the synth pop outfit Street Kids, and then within Delfins. By the end of the decade, things were obviously taking a radical turn. In 1991, Canavarro joined forces with producer and musician Carlos Maria Trindade, releasing “Mr. Wollogallu”, one of the most sought after and coveted LPs of the decade, long out of print, and finally reissued for the first time in any format as an LP by Urpa i musell, making it a truly thrilling event.

When Carlos Maria Trindade and Nuno Canavarro came together to record the wonder which is “Mr. Wollogallu”, they had never worked together before, but each had similar careers for much of the '80s in the pop world. The album, a pure experimental collaboration, which credits each side respectively to one of the artists, but is actually a result of both sets of hands, took a great deal of 1990 to slowly being conceptualized and recorded. Drawing on a vast array of instrumentation and samples, the result is an uncategorizable beauty with countless references and touchstones - from new age and ambient, to the abstraction of avant-garde classical and electro-acoustic music, to musique concrète, falling far closer to similar effort emerging during the same period in Latin America and Mexico, by artists like Jorge Reyes, Antonio Zepeda, Luis Perez, and Vía Láctea, than to almost anything coming out of mainland Europe.

Minimal, complex and challenging, stunningly delicate and beautiful, “Mr. Wollogallu” is a true wonder which, heard by almost no one at the time, failed to reach the ears it rightfully deserved, slowly gathering a faithful audience as the decades wore on. It is such a pleasure to see this incredible LP come back into the light for the first time since its original 1991 release. An enchanting, mysterious, sophisticated, and adventurous soundscape, which is absolutely essential for every fan of the '80s avant-garde and ambient music. Grab it fast before it disappears again.
