Early 1990's first CD re-issue on ESP-Disk' / ZYX Music of the 1965 album featuring John Tchicai, Milford Graves and Roswell Rudd.

condition (disc/cover): VG+ (marks nor affecting play) / EX

November 1964, and four musicians make one of the founding documents of the American avant-garde. John Tchicai's alto is dry, oblique and utterly unlike the ecstatic school then dominating the scene; Roswell Rudd drags the trombone back from Dixieland and forward into free playing in the same breath; Lewis Worrell and Milford Graves keep the ground moving. And then Amiri Baraka, still LeRoi Jones at the time, steps up to read "Black Dada Nihilismus" over the top of it, and the record becomes something else entirely: a political document as much as a musical one, and still uncomfortable sixty years later.

ESP-Disk' CD edition. Cornerstone of the label and of the music.
