No Noise Reduction, a collaboration project between Rafael Toral and João Paulo Feliciano, operated throughout the 1990's and early 2000's. In the Summer of 1995, João Paulo Feliciano and myself did a more focused effort on extended improvisation pieces, each with either guitars or circuit-bent toys and various effects (including tape echo Copycats). We did a mini-tour performing only in radio stations, as live broadcasts. Back then we were really excited about experimenting new things and that freshness comes through in these recordings. Looking in retrospect, these sessions actually predate the Space Program. They happened around the same year as my first visit to STEIM in Amsterdam and few months before i first met Jim O'Rourke, and all these events consolidated my interest in electronics, instrument-building, feedback and improvisation. I later developed these interests with a more systematic approach to discourse in electronics, as the "Space Program", but only around ten years later! And i owe quite a bit to the inspiring and truly experimental work i did with my old friend João Paulo Feliciano.- Rafael Toral
