2026 Stock. CD version. The album features five compositions that hover between contemporary, experimental, and electronic music, all steeped in a minimalist aesthetic. The starting point consists of recordings of acoustic instruments: baritone saxophone, alto clarinet, hammered dulcimer, cello, violin, and voice. If, Bwana has imbued these sounds with a new dimension through various forms of modulation, instrumental preparation, and looping; nevertheless, the recordings largely retain an acoustic character.
The Ice Moons evokes an atmosphere akin to contemporary classical music, only to shift into spacious, almost cosmic soundscapes and, ultimately, unsettling drones. The beautiful cover art harmonizes perfectly with the album's title.
If, Bwana is the long-running project of American composer Al Margolis, also the man behind Pogus Productions. Five tracks, 59 minutes. Gatefold A5 cover, limited to 400 copies.
