Whatweare is the second album by Giuseppe Fantini, following Everyday, released by Kaczynski Editions in 2023. Whatweare is both a question and an answer at the same time. What are we? We are what we are; we are what we have been and what we have been made to become. Sound, too, is what we are and what we have been.
A retro-futurist musical vision: a sonic past listened to, chewed up, swallowed, and consciously spat back out into short songs - true to the classic pop music format. An electronic drum beats with obsessive rhythms. Guitars, keyboards, and synthesizers sound dirty, minimal, and grounded. A voice, drenched in reverb, proclaims what we are.
