The Kaplan Texts is based on a book Renato produced for the project Acherotipismo by Al Mare (Teatrum Botanicum 2018, PAV, Torino), inspired by the character George Kaplan from Alfred Hitchcock’s film North By Northwest. Sections of the novel were subjected to repeated translational deformations to produce a number of scripts that Double Goocher Shop used to create this text-sound piece. The work is a cracked form of recitation, where character analysis, defamation, and fantasy blur into a ruffl…
Founded in 1968, The Maciunas Ensemble took Fluxus founder George Maciunas (1931 - 1978) score 'Music for everyman' (1961) as an invitation to explore the infinite space of sound patterns and musical structures. This exploration still continues after more than forty years. With Paul Panhuysen, Remko Scha, Jan van Riet, Leon van Noorden, Hans Schuurman, Helena Koning, Vincent Panhuysen. 'Since its foundation in 1968 the musicians of the Maciunas Ensemble always recorded their music with taperecor…
"35.256031, 47.013321, 27.081979" is an experimental sound art piece created by the Iranian composer Porya Hatami. This piece is channeling the dark historical event. Hatami’s piece could be seen as a form of meditation on this event and all tragedy and sorrow involved. The front cover is a painting by Hawar Amini which is a version of the mentioned photo.
Porya Hatami (b. 1981) is based in Sanandaj, Iran and he works with field recordings and puts these against electronic tones in different way…
**Edition of 250 copies, Mastered by Giuseppe Ielasi. Painting by Gayle Paul, design by Ashley Paul** 'Ray' is Ashley Paul's bright, sensual return to Slip: a lifting, delighting suite of yearning winds, loose beats, and cocooning, humid bass coming together and falling apart as songs. The LP airs Paul's new trio, alongside bass clarinettist Yoni Silver and bassist Otto Willberg, who fatten out and shine light on her singularly intimate, multi-instrumental with mystery and grace. 2018's 'Lost In…
**150 copies** Aatma is the re-imagining of my recent journey into Mumbai through sound, place, and moment with a Nagra SD recorder. The work was composed immediately upon my return while these things were, in a very real sense, still resonating in my mind. Part 1 is the arrival. Echoes of the shanka can be heard from a distant past across the Arabian Sea, as waves wash debris ashore and push you deep into the tumult of the city. Here you may experience the current of life and ride old trains in…

The untold early history of Amsterdam's seminal collective. Founded in 1967 by three of European free music's leading lights -- pianist Misha Mengelberg, drummer Han Bennink, and saxophonist and clarinetist Willem Breuker -- the Instant Composers Pool (ICP) was simply one of the most important vehicles for experimentation and improvisation in the history of creative music. Culling ideas and materials from jazz, modern and contemporary classical music, Fluxus, traditional music from the Balkans a…
**Limited edition of 300 audiophile 140 gr white premium vinyl. Full color gatefold sleeve with lyric inner sleeve.** This is (another) strange one. It’s a genuinely ‘lost’ album, by which I mean it is one the band and I recorded then abandoned because I couldn’t find a suitable theme when it came to writing the lyrics. The music evoked a fantasy world, but I had already covered that subject on ‘Duel’ and ‘Grimm’ and felt I couldn’t justify writing more songs about Kings, Queens, castles and dec…
**Edition of 118 numbered audiophile golden CD** Best known as producer and mainman behind Dark Companion Records and the reborn Manticore Records, Max Marchini gives birth to his first solo album where he plays all instruments except for two collaborations with avant-garde singer songwriter Paola Tagliaferro and the amazing pakhawaj indian drum playing of Akhilesh Gundecha. This album was intended as a present for his friends for Dark Companion’s 5th anniversary, but eventually label insisted t…
**CD edition** In a Word, the sixteenth installment of the intergenerational collaboration series FRKWYS, brings together postminimalist composer Daniel Lentz with vocalist and sound artist Ian William Craig for an album that embraces erosion and the fertility of the loam left behind. A document of shared transformation, Lentz’s elegant piano figures and Craig’s trembling tenor are wilted, warbled, and looped through manipulated tape machines in a real time composition that evokes a strange warm…
*300 copies limited edtion* University Challenged are Ajay Saggar ("Bhajan Bhoy"), Oli Heffernan ("Ivan The Tolerable"), and Kohhei Matsuda ("Bo Ningen"). The trio began in 2019, playing shows in Holland, where they gained a reputation for delivering highly dynamic sense-rattling shows, ranging from gentle melodic orchestral spinouts to epic power jams, all backed by beautiful self-made films in the background. The plan had always been to record an album, and get the collective musical force and…
**80 copies. Sold out at source** In Michael Bonaventure's own words: I have been endlessly busy playing and creating in the sonic universe that is the organ since childhood. I love this instrument because of its kaleidoscopic tonal potential and limitless capacity to sustain sound - qualities that are exploited very fully in the music you are going to hear in this album. Darenth is a massive meditation, a cycle of three tone poems composed almost entirely of drones, tone-clusters and repetitive…
The Israeli/British collective Staraya Derevnya made an album of pure psychedelic experimentation recorded in the performance space at Cafe Oto. Staraya Derevnya are the Tel Aviv/London based collective that are paving their own path through the world of experimental sound. The band, named after a historic district in Saint Petersberg, certainly cannot be pigeon-holed into a geographical generalisation. The lyrics on the album are directly influenced by the Saint Petersburg poet and artist Arth…
**Limited edition of 30 cassette tapes with extractable paper crochet holy image on white matte rough paper. Includes digital download** J. Zunz a.k.a. Lorena Quintanilla - better known up until this point as one half of Mexican duo Lorelle Meets The Obsolete - with her second release ‘Hibiscus’ marks a move on sonically from earlier comfort zones in her work, arriving at a soundworld in which cyclical synth patterns, eerie ambient textures and cathartic vocal exhortations coalesce into a beguil…
**Risograph printed j-card** As a project, Line Gate has been undergoing a slow, steady transformation, much like the longform drone works that have come to characterise it. What began as a band in 2010 and most recently surfaced as a solitary hurdy-gurdy resonance on 'Den' in 2017 has now flourished into ‘Apex’, Michal Vaľko’s latest album. 'Apex', simultaneously an album about perceiving the beauty around us, about sacredness, and a meditation on a state of timelessness and seeming non-action,…

His debut release was also Flying Nun’s first, the Pin Group 7-inch from 1981. Roy Montgomery, a pioneer of the NZ underground, believes there is always new sonic terrain to investigate. His latest album for Grapefruit marks forty years of rigorous exploration in which he’s managed to navigate disparate genres, scenes, and atmospheres, always at the forefron…
Burn the Night / Bruciare la Notte: Original Recordings, 1983–1989 is the first archival collection of music by the Italian minimalist composer Tiziano Popoli. In his music, Popoli framed the Italian avant-garde and New Wave of the 1980s through an architectural aesthetic distinctly detailed by a Yamaha DX7 synthesizer, Roland TR-909 drum machine, and early sampling technology.
**Edition of 300 copies** Poole Music is thrilled to announce its inaugural commission, the Habu, the latest full-length from Belgium’s Lieven Martens. For the better part of two decades, Martens has been expanding his Aloha-bedecked musical vision, transitioning from the basement tape environments of his Dolphins into the Future project to the rich compositional tapestries of more recent post-exotica modernist works.
The Habu represents a true culmination of these identities in one of his most…

Includes booklet with photos and texts in Portugues and Spanish ** The second album by the legendary Swiss artist and composer, based in Brazil, Walter Smetak, opened a new field of exploration within his own musical horizon. With the publication of “Smetak” (1974), a musical universe had been defined where Afro-Brazilian ritual traditions, studies of microtonality and open processes of collective improvisation converged, always under the influence of theosophy, which allowed …
