"It may surprise some that, after two decades of silent films, when Alam Ara broke the silence in 1931, it and every South Asian talkie that followed was what we in the West think of as a "musical." Music had been integral to the culture's staged drama going back to the Gupta Dynasty — sometime between the 4 th and 6 th Century CE. Since its inception, South Asian cinema drew heavily from Marathi, Parsi, and Bengali musical theatre and silent film screenings were often accompanied by live music …
Originally released in 1980 in very limited quantities, Salty Miller's sole album is a hidden gem of the Beach Music scene. Issued under the unwieldy Beach Music Records of the Carolinas, the album blends soul, disco, and mid-tempo steppers, all perfectly suited to Beach Music's signature dance, the Shag. The album was dreamt up after Miller had stepped away from the music industry, only to return years later, driven by a mix of disposable income and lingering creative regret. Determined to reco…
This is the only solo album by American soul singer James "Baby Huey" Ramey. He died at the age of 26 while recording his solo debut, and the album was finished and released posthumously. A quarter century after its release, The Baby Huey Story went on to become a cult classic among soul musicians and fans. Its single "Hard Times" has been sampled many times by a lot of artists and was covered by John Legend and the Roots in 2010 for the album Wake Up!
Azzurro 80's new album—his first ever on LP—is a beautifully faded Polaroid that, like a true flashback, plunges listeners into the heart of the 1980s. It's a sonic journey that captures the essence of a decade, distant yet vividly etched in our collective memory. The Roman producer unleashes his sonic vision with even greater intensity than before, weaving through dreamy italo-disco, electric atmospheres, soundtrack-worthy synth-pop, and boogie-funk grooves. Each track opens a window onto an er…

Transparent red vinyl format / 180 grams, limited edition numbered to 500 copies.
