On July 16 and 17 2021, Shiver met up with Pianist Matthew Bourne at his house in Airedale, Yorkshire. Hungry to make music following various lockdowns, cancellations and disappointments, the quartet embarked on a ferocious two-day journey of exploratory music-making. The weather was good, the connection was immediate. There was much laughing, tea-drinking and storytelling. In the evening, the stove was lit and we listened to music: Stanley Clarke, Paul Simon, Sarah Vaughan, Scott Walker, Eugene…
Powdered Beatles is Richard Ramirez and Dwayne Dathey. Meat Locker is Dominick Fernow. In old ancient egyptian tombs the first incendiary devices were discovered and locked into jade encrusted cases. The cases were found clutched in the charred bodies of the fire army. the fire not as in the fire that burns inside but the fire used to keep the frost around hanging meat.
Oidupaa Vladimir Oyun was a Tuvan musician and a man with an amazing, but really heavy destiny, a man of unbending will and divine talent and the creator of a unique style of throat singing, accompanied by playing the button accordion. Researchers described Oidupaa's style as blues and emphasized the complexity of this style of performance, which requires the singer to exert a lot of tension on the vocal cords. This is the author's unique version of the deepest and most powerful type of throat s…
In 1962, the world was buzzing with significant cultural and historical events. The Cuban Missile Crisis, a tense confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union, had the entire globe on edge as the threat of nuclear war loomed large. On July 3, 1962, Algeria declared its independence from France after an eight-year war for independence. Meanwhile, the iconic musician Bob Dylan released his debut album, "Bob Dylan," which would go on to have a lasting impact on the music industry an…
*200 copies limited edition* With "du silence des anges" Bruno Duplant returns with the second release in his trilogy for Moving Furniture Records, imbued with a certain mysticism and a deep melancholy, but, this time, more luminous, carrying a hope still possible.
*102 copies limited edition* "Hot on the heals of Inheritance, the collaboration with my brother Tjeerd (who performs as PONI), I have a new solo album called Structure. The music was recorded live at Factor IJ in Amsterdam, during an exhibition of works by Wladimir Zwaagstra (whose art I used for the cover of my CD Less is More). The music was fully improvised, and with only a few small edits presented as mini-album on this new CD. The music was recorded by Fani Konstantinidu at Factor IJ, Amst…
“It is wrong to say: I think. Better to say: I am thought. I is an other. So what if a piece of wood discovers it is a violin, and the hell with those who can’t realize, who quibble over something they know nothing about… For I is an other. If brass wakes as a bugle, it is not its fault at all. That is quite clear to me: I am a spectator at the flowering of my thought: I watch it, I listen to it: I draw a bow across a string: a symphony stirs in the depths, or surges onto the stage.” - Arthur Ri…
*2024 cd version reprint* "Bright lights of impossible architecture, airwaves are your travelling wings. I rode up some of those ones, it was already night. It looked like some future city, lights of villages on the other hills below as far as light not obscuring. Interesting scene. Invisible city of trees. Continuing its spiritual journey, where the self-titled LP was inspired by erosion and the jaws of time as an elemental force, “Spires” explores its vision in the forward vector, a future man…
"Early 2022: I started to get a few tracks in from Dohnavùr (Edinburgh) and Kl(aüs (Sydney). “This is what we’re working on, but the album’s not ready yet.” I had an idea. Let’s open the portal between Edinburgh and Sydney and let two of Castles in Space’s longest standing artists loose on each other’s tracks and see what we get. The idea being, original track, remix, flip, original track, remix, flip. I’m happy to be able to report, the experiment worked. We got something very special indeed. T…
"Back in the middle ages when people commuted to work something sinister and something primary colored was brewing. Satanic hair dye. True crime cosmopolitans were conjured through various doorways to hell. One of those is the entire city of present day los angeles where the germs and rodney collect coupons and groupies. A place where the bright lights are seriously luciferian and the dreams are the dreams of fallen angels. Acid children party freely in the underpasses and cement iron courtyards…
An infected journey through humid vine like enclosures and vicious leaf blades with a tangy serrated edge where one might observe a little too closely the multi-colored wandering spiders over oaks hanging and sucking the sharp edges of the razor, a sudden shine of reflected alumni light could perhaps enter the cornea and a dangerously precise interval pre-empting the reflex to shut your eyes. At last, crawling on hands and stone along a rocky and unstable footing - the enormous shale mouth opens…
Two of the most legendary industrial noise artists break down and grind into dust with mortar and pestle each other's sounds, thoughts, and silence into a textural collapse that could very well be the discovery of new kinds of static, new kinds of fuzz and new kinds of words that might never be spoken but fall into the ravine of spears. Presented in grim recycled board with spot gloss jacket and inner print on clear vinyl.
*300 copies limited edition* "There is one world, no rules, no fixed ideals - not even chaos exists. Sometimes the awareness of the ridiculously short existence overcomes you, framed in sick trivialities. And yet there is hope in the midst of the absurd and this publication tells of it. No teaching! No warning! No example! Just a report." - Hospital
LP in quality die cut foil stamped jacket with inner sleeve. Black vinyl edition.
Hospital Productions is proud to announce ‘Trick’ on 2xLP format. “Trick’ is deeply important to the Hospital history as it was the first time working with the icon Richard Ramirez in 1999. 5 tracks spread across each disc ‘Only If You Want To Fuck’ and ‘Voyage Of Tempted Flesh’. ‘Trick’ shows Ramirez at his most focused, linear, and darkest noise that only he can do. Listeners will be torn between minimalist brittle static and eerie envelope-filter delayed electronics creating a chasm of gravel…

Her music can be considered as musi…

Natasha Barrett has been called “Norway’s most prominent composer of electro-acoustic music,” and on the basis of this double disc, she’s earned it. Peat+Polymer isn’t just a showcase for her own talents, but for the breadth of experimentalism.
