Everything makes me dream… Id comes to life achromatic, briefly thoroughly illuminated by light. Instantly colors leak from above and slowly darkness covers the spreadsheet with all that many allegorical, symbolic, mystic shades. Noble, good, useful, mean, unnecessary, common, and beautiful. Mélancolies du voyage, floating in an ocean of mixed ratios.
Lathe Burin and Laure Boer decided to leave the planet for a while. They transformed themselves into Edition d’art, a creative entity, that likes to write postcards in form of colorful sound miniatures. For their debut album “Auberge des Sapin” they created 14 adventurous snapshots. They are dishonestly honest handsome buzzing little friends, featuring Laure Boer singing and reading old family postcards to manipulated found-sounds, synth-gamelan-textures, Accordion psychedelics, weeping ambient …
Unfortunately, Kashual Plastik got lost, but the threads have snapped progressively. It got lost in fluxes, that sometimes dry up, freeze, or overflow, sometimes combine or diverge. On the way it became capable of loving without remembering, without phantasm, interpretation, without taking stock. The result is “Labyrinth of Memories”, an epic four-sided compilation, full of romanticism, witchcraft, and necromancy, drifting in an ocean of sentiments, that gently reach the limits of control.

Tip! The original environmental album from the Kyoto Connection available on Vinyl for the very first time. The album was composed, produced and recorded by Argentinian producer Facundo Arena over the course of one month in early 2018. A self trained musician and digital synths enthusiast, for this project Facundo wanted to move out of his comfort zone and compose the album purely using plugins and sequencing software on his iPad, running the songs directly onto tape, in this case his trusted 19…
Highly anticipated sophomore release from saxophonist and composer Sisonke Xonti, winner of South Africa's 2020 Standard Bank Young Artist Award for Jazz. At the centre of the album, Xonti's four-part "Migration Suite" is his boldest work to date, exploring rural and urban identity and the perilous spiritual journey from homeland to the global village. Produced by Xonti and pianist Yonela Mnana and featuring photography by Mandisa Buthelezi, the album appears on As-Shams/The Sun as part of a ros…
Gideon Nxumalo was a key figure during the formative years of South African jazz in the 1950s and 60s, helping shape a modern African jazz sound as a composer, arranger and pianist and contributing to the scene as a music teacher and radio presenter. His recorded output as solo artist/bandleader is comprised of a trilogy of iconic albums from Jazz Fantasia (1962) to Gideon Plays (1968) to Early-Mart (1970).Early-Mart was Gideon Nxumalo's tribute to friend and musical compatriot, drummer Early Ma…
*In process of stocking* Repress of Wildflower's 2nd album. The band continued to explore areas of groove-based improvised jazz. Taking a slightly freer approach to the writing process, simple but effective melodies and bass motifs are explored to create fully realised pieces with dynamic extremes that bring a full range of emotion. Recorded over a two-day session at Studios in London, the band sounds relaxed and at ease, giving space to explore intricate improvised interplay and dialogue fully …
Paul Dunnall’s dynamic Birmingham quintet’s release Yes Tomorrow was a Discus highlight of 2022. We enjoyed the release so much that we took the unusual step of suggesting he add Julie Tippetts and Charlotte Keeffe to the group to make a second release. Paul embraced the idea with enthusiasm, and came up with this suite for the expanded group. The result is a freewheeling set with a great “live gig” feel, which gives plenty of space for each player to shine, and which mixes some tight compositio…
Theta Six – OUA’s sixth album – is an ever morphing tapestry of new sounds arriving via wormhole direct from the left field progressive sound universe. It evolved from a studio session of bass driven rhythms followed next day by a marathon free-improvisation session. These sessions were amalgamated through a high impact collision which made extensive use of chance procedures, and then carefully sculpted and arranged for horns and voices by Martin and Jan.
The music is heard as a single continuou…
Senza Sapere Niente di Lei (1969, Luigi Comencini) is one of the first scores composed by Ennio Morricone, for a Giallo film, just ahead of the great season of the cult Italian thriller genre forged by Dario Argento. The soundtrack perfectly mirrors the philosophy behind the Morricone Segreto series, not only for its extraordinary dark-tinged and psychedelic vibes, but also because of the rarity of the score, which has surprisingly remained unreleased on vinyl (with the exception of two tracks i…
*In process of stocking* First of a trilogy of films directed by Luigi Magni dedicated to the papal Rome of the Risorgimento period, Nell'anno del Signore (In the Year of the Lord) depicts a Rome subjected and accustomed to the temporal power of the church. After this feature film will follow: In the Name of the Pope King (1977) and In the Name of the Sovereign People (1990), which will have the same stylistic line. In the first two feature films, the scores were written by Armando Trovajoli, whi…
The music of 'Senzatempo' moves in balance between composition and improvisation. It is a symphonic work for an imaginary orchestra in which melodies, counterpoints, dynamics and sonorities define a structural breadth reminiscent of classical music.
Austrian guitarist, composer, and electronic musician Christian Fennesz is recognized as the key figure and one of the most distinctive voices of electronic music today. His wide international reputation has been consolidated through his substantial …
*200 copies limited edition. In process of stocking* Don't Ever Let Me Know is Sheffield's first solo release since 2018's Repair Me Now (Glistening Examples) and is a work in a similar mode to that album in that it comprises two lengthy pieces of multiple movements and moods. For this new work, and as a kind of ode to his late father, Sheffield has employed samples entirely taken from (or inspired by) the city in which both men were born. In this way, the sounds have been utilized as a kind of …
*300 copies limited edition. In process of stocking* A new mutation on Mecánica Clásica's sound, preserving the essence of previous works: ambient inspired by electronic pioneers such as Craig Leon, K. Leimer, Marc Barreca, Jon Hassell or Cluster. Continuing with their contemporary update of these sounds, this new delivery evolves to more rhythmic tracks, oriental influences and percussive sequences that bring it closer to leftfield vibes, with a wide range of textures and details that appear an…

A vibrant, wry, and engaging account of life as an adventurous, queer young person in late 1970s London discovering themselves as an artist, and an individual. While working as a photographer's model, gallery usher, and exotic dancer, Dorothy “Max” Prior witnessed the births of Adam and the Ants, The Monochrome Set, The Sex Pistols, and Throbbing Gristle, as well as drumming in her own cult band Rema Rema and recording with Industrial Records. Her exuberant commentaries, each presented as a sta…
Being Below is a mini-album of short songs created with digital and analogue instruments, recorded in 2020. Written with a structure that reflects shifting states, overlooking the past and future as a split pathway with the present endlessly fluctuating between. The pangs of rumination. An exercise in loop-less writing.
"Staring out, tense. Looking down isn’t so different than looking up, but it passes by faster. Contentment at the accomplishment that I'm here, and the fear that what I’ve always…
Matthias Kranebitter has written the odd piece without electronics in the past. However, the use of electronics in his music usually is a given. At the same time, the way in which electronics are employed in his work is anything but a matter of course. They are not simply an instrument amongst others, they don't serve as an atmospheric background, a synthesized ear-tickler, or formal glue which is meant to cover up fractures within the musical material. Rather, they themselves embody such fractu…
