A Montreal electroacoustic collective active 1976-1986, formerly known as Le Groupe Mud/Design Musical. Sonde built original sound sculptures (resonant metal structures, prepared wires, hand-machined acoustic objects) and performed extended group improvisations on them. The Italian composer Mario Bertoncini, who had been involved with Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza in Rome, was their early inspiration and the album is dedicated to him.

Side A is from a concert at the Music Gallery in Toronto on 14 January 1978. Side B1 from a concert at the group's Montreal workshop on 13 July 1977; B2 from York University, Toronto, on 17 January 1978. Performers: Andrew Culver, Charles de Mestral, Pierre Dostie, Linda Pavelka, Chris Howard, Robin Minard, Michael O'Neill. Keith Daniel handled the technical side from the group's founding. Pressed by Music Gallery Editions, the Toronto label run out of the Music Gallery new-music venue, in modest numbers. The 2007 Oral CD reissue is the most accessible edition.
