A bop pianist who had played with Charlie Parker, spent much of the sixties driving a taxi in New York, and then moved to Copenhagen and found an audience that actually wanted him. Flight To Denmark was the record that reintroduced Duke Jordan in 1973, and it became SteepleChase's calling card: warm, unhurried trio playing with a beautiful clarity of touch, standards handled with real affection and Jordan's own "No Problem" turning into a minor standard in its own right. The cover photograph of him standing in the snow with his overcoat and his suitcase is one of the most recognisable images the label ever produced.
