1966, and a band that would shortly be playing to rock audiences at the Fillmore assembles for the first time. Charles Lloyd had Keith Jarrett, Cecil McBee and Jack DeJohnette, three musicians all in their twenties and all about to become enormous, and the group's mixture of modal Coltrane influence, gospel warmth and outright lyricism made it briefly the most popular jazz band in the world. Dream Weaver is where the formula arrives fully assembled: long open forms, a tenor tone of real tenderness, and a rhythm section already playing far more freely than the material strictly requires.

Italian RI-FI pressing for Atlantic. The record that made Lloyd a star and gave Jarrett and DeJohnette their first serious platform.
