1992 CD-only release on Hat Art of a haunting performance of the 1987 micro-tonal masterpiece by the Ensemble Modern conducted by Arturo Tamayo.

condition (disc/cover): NM / NM

Morton Feldman wrote For Samuel Beckett in 1987, the year of his death, for twenty-three players. Ten years earlier the two had worked together on the opera Neither, and here Feldman builds a single span from a few soft, slowly shifting chords, each repeated and slightly altered, so that the changes are felt more than heard.

Ensemble Modern conducted by Arturo Tamayo, recorded at the Hessischer Rundfunk in Frankfurt on 24 and 25 May 1991. The index at 18:51 is for reference only and does not mark a division in the work. Released by hat ART in 1992, with notes by Art Lange.
