3LP box version.
The 24th volume in the film music series that Film Fest Gent and the World Soundtrack Awards have been recording for Silva Screen, and the first album entirely devoted to new studio recordings of Philip Glass's original film scores. The Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Dirk Brossé, plays 29 pieces drawn from four decades of Glass's work for cinema; the project follows the World Soundtrack Lifetime Achievement Award the festival gave him in 2025.
Alongside the best known scores, his three Oscar-nominated works Kundun, The Hours and Notes on a Scandal, together with Koyaanisqatsi, Naqoyqatsi, Mishima, The Fog of War, The Illusionist and Cassandra's Dream, the set includes more than half an hour of music never recorded before, assembled from the composer's archive with his artistic team: selections from Secret Window and Taking Lives, music from the 9/11 documentary Rebirth, the complete score for Hamburger Hill and a suite from No Reservations.
There are also two orchestral pieces written for The Truman Show, a film that ended up using Glass's demos, here recorded for the first time in their finished form, the original complete ending of the piano duet from Stoker, and a new arrangement of 'Helen's Theme' from Candyman. This is the three-LP box set (SILLP1868) with extensive sleeve notes; the same programme is available on 2CD.
