Italian edition on Virgin of the lovely 1977 evocative soundtrack to the François de Menil documentary on Mark di Suvero.

condition (record/cover): NM /  EX+

Black/white labels.

Recorded February-March 1975 at Basement Recording Studio in New York; produced by Kurt Munkacsi with Glass and Chantal Darcy's Paris-based Shandar imprint. Side A is Music in Contrary Motion (1969, expanded 1974), Glass alone at the electric organ playing a line that bifurcates in mirror image, with phrases gradually lengthening through additive accretion. Side B is Two Pages (1968), the earliest of Glass's mature additive pieces, played here by Glass on electric organ and Michael Riesman on acoustic piano.

Riesman, soon to become music director of the Philip Glass Ensemble, plays an unflashy piano part that lets the structure breathe. Cover design by André Belleguie; a Brice Marden graphite drawing on the rear (Marden and Glass were close in the early-seventies downtown scene). Black label A side, white label B side.
