European concert recordings on the Italian collectors' label Ingo - one of those semi-legendary imprints that served the faithful in the decades before official vault programs, produced with more love than legal clarity, and treasured for exactly that reason. John Coltrane live in the quartet era: the working band stretching the book across European stages, captured in honest concert sound. Italian collectors' labels of this type are their own fascinating chapter of jazz discography - our home turf, we admit with some pride - and clean copies circulate less and less. For the deep shelf, and for anyone who measures a collection by its live Trane holdings.
