LP, edition of 600 on Red Oxidized vinyl. A night inside a church with nothing between the sound and the stone. Recorded by candlelight at the Temple Saint-Theodule in La Tour-de-Peilz, Switzerland, in 2021: Leila Bordreuil on cello and feedback, Kali Malone on the 1995 Liardon organ and sine waves.

The pieces move slowly, in Malone's phrase like beads on a thread, each gesture separated by silence and by audible breathing. Organ wind brushes against string harmonics; the sine tones lock onto the cello's partials and set interference patterns pulsing across the chapel. Church bells sound somewhere outside, motorcycles pass in the distance, the building answers with its own resonances, and none of it is edited out. The room is treated as a third player.

Everything was performed live in single takes, which puts the record on a line between composure and accident. Bordreuil usually works with extreme texture and noise and here leans towards tone and long shape; Malone's tuning is as exact as ever but the organ and electronics are handled more roughly than she normally allows. Each ends up somewhere neither of them usually stands.
