All thirteen pieces of Robert Schumann's Kinderszenen are here, in their original order, from Von Fremden Ländern Und Menschen to Der Dichter Spricht. Between them Giorgio Gaslini inserts four movements of his own Schumann Reflections, so the children's scenes alternate with jazz written in response to them.
Gaslini plays piano with Piero Leveratto on bass and Paolo Pellegatti on drums and percussion, recorded at Barigozzi Studio in Milan on 6 and 7 July 1984 and released that year by Soul Note. Gaslini had been mixing third stream composition with jazz since the 1950s and had scored Michelangelo Antonioni's La Notte; the third movement of the Reflections is a lullaby, placed just before Fast Zu Ernst.
