On the 30th anniversary of the Victo Festival Anthony Braxton took to the stage for a magnificent solo performance on the alto sax, performing 8 spontaneous compositions and an 8+ minute version of "Body and Soul", seamlessly crossing lyrical and complex approaches to the horn using his unique intervallic, trimbral and diagrammatic language, a stunning and embraceable accomplishment.
Victo 40th Anniversary Super Sale. "In Victoriaville, Braxton unveiled a vast but measured and mature volley of musical content, clearly of the jazz varriety in the specific and symbolic sense. He was right at home."-Josef Woodard
"... a titanic performance that moved from machine-gun bursts to airy harmonics, whether welded to his own structures or lightly tethered to the chord changes of ancient American songs." - Stuart Broomer
