*150 copies limited edition* Apologizing To Ghosts is a hauntological meditation on the haunted house: its lingering detritus of memories, its cobwebs of remorse, its loops replaying in darkened corners, ghosts quietly apologizing to the ghosts of ghosts. For Varian, ghosts aren't made of ectoplasm so much as of injustice, longing and regret, the unfinished business that keeps them, and us, tethered to some moment we wish we could undo.

As on many previous 400 Lonely Things albums, every sound here is built entirely from samples drawn from assorted media, often carrying ghostly themes of their own, reassembled into rustic, analogue, deeply haunted dronescapes. It's the 24th album by 400 Lonely Things (second release for Unexplained Sounds Group, following Subdivisions in 2025), the American project helmed by Craig Varian since 1988. It's one of the most singular voices in what critics have called "ghost ambient" and "pagantronic," music suspended between hauntology and folk horror.
