Before the Heat Death is the first CP Unit album, recorded at Seizures Palace in Brooklyn on January 20, 2016, when Chris Pitsiokos was 26. The quartet puts him alongside three players from the border between jazz and rock: Brandon Seabrook on electric guitar, Tim Dahl (Child Abuse) on electric bass and Weasel Walter (The Flying Luttenbachers) on drums.

After records that pushed the alto beyond its limits under the influence of noise and of composers such as Xenakis and Lachenmann, here Pitsiokos plays jazz with its formal frame intact, head, improvisation, head, and fills it with his experimental ideas. Seven compositions, from Fried and Quantized to Supersax and Wet Brain.
