Late works by Alvin Lucier for The Ever Present Orchestra, an ensemble of electric and lap steel guitars played with e-bows, here including Stephen O'Malley and Oren Ambarchi. As in much of his late music, long sustained tones and slow sweeps rub against one another, and the beating patterns they produce become the real substance of the pieces.
Tilted Arc adds saxophones, violins, glockenspiel and piano to the guitars, Double Helix is for guitars alone, EPO-5 brings in glockenspiel, saxophone and violin, and Semicircle returns to the larger group with piano. Lucier also drew the cover and wrote the notes. Issued by Black Truffle in 2020 in a gatefold sleeve.
