On Automaginary + Totality, Natural Information Society & Bitchin Bajas meet across two studio sessions separated by a decade, weaving rhythm, gravity and invisible force into organic convergences now united on CD for the first time - separate arcs made whole.

Automaginary + Totality brings together two albums born from the in‑studio convergence of Natural Information Society and Bitchin Bajas, both released for the first time on CD in a single package that spans over a decade of shared history. The pairing captures two ensembles whose individual inclinations - Natural Information Society's hypnotic, rhythm‑driven explorations and Bitchin Bajas' droning, synthesizer‑heavy meditations - meet in a space that feels both congenial and deeply organic, crafting new pieces where rhythm and gravity pull in unexpected directions.

The sessions document what happens when invisible force meets ancient object: two groups operating on their own wavelengths finding common ground without sacrificing their distinct identities. Natural Information Society, led by Joshua Abrams and built around the guimbri (a three‑stringed Moroccan bass lute), percussion and winds, brings a propulsive, trance‑like energy rooted in repetition and subtle variation. Bitchin Bajas, the Chicago‑based synthesizer trio known for their slow‑building, cosmiche‑influenced drones, counters with textural depth and harmonic shimmer. Together, they create music that hovers between the earthy and the celestial, grounding Bitchin Bajas' floating tones with Natural Information Society's rhythmic anchor, while letting the drones open up space for the rhythm to breathe and expand.

Automaginary and Totality function as unique passages in time - snapshots of two ensembles in shared and separate arcs, meeting, diverging, then meeting again over the course of years. The CD edition allows both albums to be heard as a continuous statement, revealing the evolution of their collaboration and the ways their individual voices have shifted and intertwined. For fans of either group, the pairing offers a chance to hear familiar sounds refracted through a different lens. For newcomers, it's an invitation into a world where rhythm, drone, minimalism and improvisation converge into something that feels timeless, patient and wholly its own.
