Read backwards, the third title, Surivanoroc, gives away when this album was written. Ole Matthiessen, the Danish pianist who had played on Erling Kroner's debut half a century earlier, recorded it at the Village Studio on 23 and 24 August 2021 with an octet, and Stunt Records released it in 2022.
The front line is Bob Rockwell on tenor saxophone, Jan zum Vohrde on alto saxophone, Lis Wessberg on trombone and Henrik Bolberg Pedersen on trumpet and flugelhorn, with Rune Fog Nielsen on bass, Ole Streenberg on drums and the Cuban Eliel Lazo on congas. Matthiessen wrote and arranged all thirteen tunes, among them Brother Yusef and Southafrican Sunrise.
