* Edition of 150 * The other side of the coin. Where its companion single, Organum Electronics' Fiire, delivers compressed walls of metallic noise, David Jackman's Das Kreuz strips everything back to a handful of quiet, elemental sounds - and in doing so arrives at something close to the essence of his recent work under his own name.

Across the two tracks, the music unfolds with the stillness of an overheard moment: birdsong, the cry of crows, the strike of a distant bell, and behind it all, a repeating piano melody so faint it seems to drift in from another room, another building, another time. The effect is less that of a composed piece than of a field recording made in some remote, half-abandoned place - standing alone in a village square, listening to someone practise piano through an open window while the world outside continues its own unhurried rituals. It is music of radical reduction, yet saturated with a particular kind of atmosphere - nostalgic, solitary, faintly spectral.

Released on Die Stadt in a limited edition of 150 copies on black vinyl, Das Kreuz arrives alongside Fiire as an epilogue to the seven-album CD subscription series that the label dedicated to Jackman's work between 2023 and 2025. Where that series traced a long arc through the harsh electronic densities of the Organum Electronics project and the quieter, bell-and-drone contemplations issued under his own name, these two 7"s crystallize the polarity in its most distilled form - noise and silence, aggression and stillness, two faces of a single practice that has steadily accrued one of the most enigmatic bodies of work in experimental music over the past four decades.
