CD version. La légende d’Eer (1977-78) is an electroacoustic work by Iannis Xenakis for 7-channel tape, lasting 47 minutes. It was created for the Diatope, a curved architectural structure designed by Xenakis with laser light, and first presented at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. The tape combines instrumental sounds, noises and electronically generated material, and suggests an initial departure, a journey and a final return.
This edition uses a new stereo mix made by Gerard Pape from the original analogue master tape, transferred at 96kHz/24-bit. The restoration recovers about two and a half minutes of material missing from the earlier CD release. The DVD adds 5.1 surround sound, a documentary film by Bruno Rastoin made of 350 still photographs from the original performance, and a 60-minute interview with Xenakis by the musicologist Harry Halbreich.
