The violinist Malcolm Goldstein writes three articles on improvisation and plays two long pieces on the CD, scraping and bowing across the strings with great physical intensity, and the Toronto women's music-theatre group Urge contributes four brief vocal pieces.

There is also an electric guitar piece by Rob Wannamaker, a choral Lullaby for Daisy Pauline by Pauline Oliveros, with recollections of her Sonic Meditations in the magazine, and ten short MIDI works by David Cronkite. Udo Kasemets writes on the cochlea of the human ear.
