One of the best magazines of experimental music / sound art, founded by John Oswald and published since 1978. Includes feaurures, essays, interviews, reviews, etc., and comes with a CD with (often exclusive) music/sound in relation to the contents of the magazine. In this issue: David Tudor, Martin Bartlett, Antartic soundscapes, Het Apollohuis, Stan Brakhage, etc.

condition (disc/magazine): NM / EX

10"x8", 64- to 72-page (depending on the issue) stapled magazine.

Issue 69 of Musicworks, from 1997, with its CD. The longest piece is a live 1996 Toronto performance of Toneburst by David Tudor, a dense, crackling web of homemade electronics, and the disc ends with New Leaves, a 1983 synthesizer piece by Martin Bartlett, the Vancouver composer and electronics pioneer.

Between them are Douglas Quin's recordings from Antarctica (Weddell seals under water, emperor penguins, a glacier), Chiyoko Szlavnics's Papyrus Bending for saxophone quartet and short movements for virtual piano by Marc Hyland. The magazine includes a piece by René van Peer on the closing of Het Apollohuis.
