Speak in Tongues is the first solo alto saxophone album by Chris Pitsiokos for Relative Pitch: six pieces, each dedicated to a forebear on the instrument or in the music around it, To Charles Parker Jr., To Anthony Braxton, To Roscoe Mitchell, To Ornette Coleman, To Eric Dolphy and To John Zorn.
The dedications work as starting points rather than homages. Circular breathing at speed, broken lyricism and sudden bursts of noise make it a solo record that is study, tribute and provocation at once.
CD on Relative Pitch Records.
