With this music Luigi Archetti penetrates into the acoustic nano-area; virtually sits down in the crystal lattice. A microcosm becomes audible - aggregate states under the magnifying glass. A music in which condensations and dissolutions become plastic, fragments seem to whirl around vegetatively. Surfaces lead a supposedly silent life of their own and sounds take shape in them, gain body. Silence and slowness are important components of the music. Tonal fragments and fleeting acoustic memories, frozen out of movement, become audible. Form, so to speak, a small morphology of the sonorous surface.
There is a quiet intangible crackle running through the textures, there is a feedback emerging from the sound, frequency bands rub against each other in quiet movement, there are timbres that change their quality almost imperceptibly, yet continuously, the spatial depth of sound is modulated and the sounds take on seemingly plastic manifestations. Archetti creates a concentrated music that surrenders itself completely to the process of perception and yet can surprise again and again while listening to it. The metaphor of solidified lava could be understood as perceptual acuity in the context of Luigi Archetti‘s music. The porous surface of a lava stone grants new acoustic perceptions through «old holes». Lava is hereby interpreted not as something dead and solidified, but as «something fertile or defined as eruptive inspiration».
The sound world is of the finest refinement – free of any false pathos. On the one hand precisely solemn and evocative, on the other hand highly sensitive porous she comes closer to you. And when we then feel her breath on our ear, when she breathes her secret into us, which we do not want to share with anyone, we recognize in the intimacy of the moment at the same time again the vastness and generosity that is in this music.
